As a staff member at Northeast Academy, I can attest to how integral Class Matters is to our students’ learning environment. We are a STEM Academy and the role that Class Matters hold with our Viking Community is one of trust, empowerment, and success. I am grateful to witness Class Matters involvement with the growth of our students, more specifically, in the areas of engineering and mathematics.
I am DaQualin Norton who attends Northeast academy. I use to be someone who didn’t know where I was going in life but until Darron Lamkin came in our school and influence me personally that life was about overcoming obstacle and making a career out of it.
My name is Jervaris Hollingsworth and I attend Northeast Academy. I am grateful for Class Matters contributing to the STEM Academy and to our First Robotics Team. I am gladly to say that Class Matter plays a big role in the Viking Community.
My name is Malaykia Coulter, and as a student at Northeast Academy I can say that we have one of the greatest Engineering programs that high schools even have. The program provides us an opportunity to see how it is to have engineering as a major and what type of work engineers do, we get to tour colleges and visit their engineering programs and I’m very thankful for the experiences I have had because it has caused me to gain more knowledge about alot of thing I never even knew about.
i am Charisma House and i attend Northeast Academy, in order to create something grand you have to re-create, and the more you do that the more your knowledge advances. as a student ( and i am not just specking for myself) we want to give back what the community gave us and that is a chance to prove our self and our knowledge.
As a Hispanic senior student attending Northeast Academy for Health Sciences and Engineering Enterprise School, I am grateful for the experience i have received. I used to be child who never understood the advantages of going to school. I never really liked the idea of going to school. I really wanted to just stay home and eat ice-cream all day. After experiencing the transition between middle school and high school, I quickly realized how much support I received from Kalen Berry (Vice Chairperson of Class Matters) in the STEM academy and Darron Lamkin (President of Class Matters). I became and inspired student to work hard and achieve my goals. I am a hard working and optimistic student as of today and forward. I am passionate about learning anything new, from anatomy and physiology to languages of the programming world.
Hello my name is Trevon Wiles and as a student at Northeast Academy. We are a STEM Academy and the role that Class Matters hold with our Viking Community is one of trust, empowerment, and success. I am grateful to witness Class Matters he has help me with robotics, math, act prep and extra curricular activities in the areas of engineering and mathematics.
I remember being very nervous on my first day at Northeast Academy. I was a sophomore and I didn’t know if I would make any friends or if anyone would like me. I was so nervous for no reason at all. Ever since I have been at Northeast I have felt welcomed and accepted. Throughout my high school career I wasn’t sure about what I wanted to be. Northeast provided an environment where I could explore different career paths and figure out what I wanted to be. At Northeast I was also able to meet Darron Lamkin who is such a great individual to be around. He is enthusiastic and truly cares about the students at Northeast. Its nice to be able to go to a school where you know there are teachers and educated professionals who actually want to make a difference in your life. People who care enough to motivate and nurture you. I want to be able to do that for someone, to make a difference in their life.
Mr. Lamkin has provided me with lots of opportunities to continue my passion for robotics , by being a mentor of our FTC ( First Tech Competition) Team. I could tell that he was just as enthusiastic about it as we were. He drove us to push and transcend our normal expectations. Not only was he our mentor though, he was also an advisor to achieving a greater education. Having several discussions with Mr.Lamkin led me to see his great character, and also see him as a role model. I am very thankful for Mr.Lamkin and his contributions to our school and the senior class.
Class-Matters and Mr. Lamkin gave me a chance to gain knowledge about FTC. FTC ( First Tech Competition) is a smaller version of First Robotics and I would have never knew about it without Mr. Lamkin’s help. Having the opportunity to work with him throughout the whole FTC process was amazing. He was more than a mentor, he was an inspiration. He helped and encourage me to follow my dreams and gave me advice to help me along the way. I am glad to meet a person like Mr. Lamkin and I am thankful for all the help.
Class-Matters gives you the chance to continue education and understand why education matters and why to proceeded to higher education . Mr.Lamkin is a well known man in my school and willing to give a hand when needed to our fellow students. Mr.Lamkin is making a change to those students that are willing to get help from an adult and that they aren’t afraid to express them self. Class-Matters program will grow with more people like Mr.Lamkin and make a difference in the community of Northeast Academy. Mr.lamkin its greatful to have you in our school board and making a differences with a student at a time.
I would like to thank Mr.Lamkin and Class Matters for the support over my senior year, and for making my senior trip possible. It was very enjoyable and could not have happened without Mr.Lamkin’s help. Now with my senior year in the past and the fun of the trip to be memorable, I look forward to my first year in college as a freshman at the University of Central Oklahoma. With all the knowledge and advice Mr.Lamkin has shared with me, I plan to prosper and transcend any limits.
Mr.Lampkins is such a wonderful person and is absolutely always striving to support anyone the best way he knows how. I want to say thank you Mr lampkins for the support that you showed my senior class on how we were able to go on our
senior trip. It would have never been possible if it was not for you so I am grateful and thankful for
that. A long with that Mr lampkins has been a person and that is always there as a lending ear
and a person who will do the best of his ability to make you happy. I thank God Mr.Lampkins, and I wish we had more people like him.
There are so many wonderful things that can be said about Mr.Lamkin and Class Matters! Class Matters has helped my classmates and I in so may different ways. Whether it’s helping us get Robotics Cardigans or helping us fundraise for a class trip, we can always count on Mr. Lamkin to make things happen. As a young adult , I aspire to be able to help my community like he does!

DJ Lamkin has been my senior class’s number one supporter. We wouldn’t have made it without him, he is such a BIG help to all of us. Not just supporting us financially, but being a mentor to all of us, supporting us physically. Actually being a guiding presence at our school for not only the senior class but for the ENTIRE student body. I can honestly say that DJ Lamkin is one of the best people I know. He has such a kind and wonderful heart. One of the most important things I remember him telling me is to “Never give up. See it to the end” He encouraged me to stay positive and to not quit, even when I thought failure was inevitable. I hope that one day I can be as great and inspirational a person as he is.
Mr. Lamkin has been a huge help throughout my whole senior year. I applaud him for stepping up to help with our Physics projects and making our Senior trip possible. He has gone over and beyond for us, and he is greatly appreciated! 🙂
I want to give a huge thank you to Mr.Lamkin and Class matters! First i would love to thank Mr.Lamkin for everything he has done for the class of 2015 at Northeast Academy. Being a Class officer on top of everything else that i was involved in was very hard. Mr.Lamkin was not only helpful to the senior class he was willing to do anything and everything for the school. Mr.lamkin is a great mentor to not only me but everyone. Watching Mr.lamkin as he walks the halls at Northeast Academy has inspired me to continue my education so that in the future i can help young people and make a change in someones life like i had the opportunity to experience from Mr.Lamkin. I also want to say thank you for letting me and my fellow classmates get the opportunity to go on a wonderful senior trip. It was an amazing trip and lots of memories that will not be forgotten.
I am thankful for Class Matter and Mr. Lamkins. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have had the wonderful senior trip that I had. Class Matter and Mr. Lamkins supports and help out our community tremendously.
DJ is an awesome individual, who is always trying to encourage individuals to do their best. While at OSU he always strived for us in MEP program to go to class and do our work. He helped me get my first career job after graduating from OSU, and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you DJ for all the help and guidance you have given me.
Class Matters is changing the face of education in Oklahoma City. The way that Darron has strategically implemented his concept of is simply amazing. I have contributed to class-matters for years, remotely. However, this year was the first year that I had the opportunity to travel to Oklahoma City and interact with the very kids who’s lives are being changed. Without a doubt every donation is being used to empower these children, and it is my pleasure to be associated with such a powerful non-profit. Keep up the great work!!!
Class Matters and Mr. Lamkin’s commitment to his students is amazing and something rare in today’s school systems! I have been able to witness firsthand the mentor ship, support, encouragement, and development that this program provides for it’s students! Being a college student majoring in STEM, Class Matters provides a foundation of experience in teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking that I wish I was provided with as a high school student. Class Matters is a great after school program with benefits that will help it’s students beyond high school. I am a strong advocate for this program and it’s work!
